This small-group primitive camping experience is based in the Wilderness Camp area, a 15-minute walk from the main camp. Campers will stay in rustic, three-sided shelters and learn outdoor living skills while also enjoying many activities, including multiple aspects of our challenge course. The campers will have regular chances to shower and/or swim at the main camp.

The goal of Wilderness Camp is to provide a slower-paced experience to teach outdoor living skills, foster positive relationships, and worship in God’s creation. The schedule is fluid, and the whole Wilderness Camp group does most activities together (rather than spending some time in cabin groups, as the resident camps do).

Special activities for Wilderness Camp will include a day of hiking and potentially an overnight stay in the National Forest, and also a day with Lester Zook of Wild GUYde Adventures, who will teach outdoor skills such as fire building, backcountry navigation, what to pack for a hike, and more.

Note that each day will include treks back and forth between the main camp and the Wilderness area, and/or hikes to activities. Wilderness Camp participants should be physically fit enough to hike/walk about 3 miles a day on varied terrain.

General daily schedule for Wilderness Camp:

  • 8:30 wake-up
  • Breakfast (usually cooked over the fire)
