When joining the Mt. Clinton Mennonite church campout at Highland last summer, Lee Martin faced a dilemma: In order to sleep in an actual bed, he had to reserve a camping cabin in the Lower Campground, which was an inconvenient distance from his church group in the Upper Campground. So when Lee learned about our hope to add several dry cabins to each of our campgrounds, he personally resonated with the idea.
As a former director at Highland and a current instructor at Massanutten Technical Center, Lee made a brilliant connection: the students at MTC could build cabins for Highland! The students have been constructing four small, climate-controlled cabins at MTC this school year.

The MTC students have been learning carpentry skills from Lee and electrical skills from former facility manager Gordie Shantz as they build the cabins for us. Soon the cabins will be transported to Highland and set up, two in the Upper Campground and two in the Lower, where they will provide access for folks who might not own a tent or RV but still want to spend time in the woods with their church family and friends.
