Highland purchased Green Valley House in 2019 and turned the former medical clinic into a 6-bedroom residence. It has been well used behind the scenes in the last 5 years, serving as housing for a variety of staff, interns, and volunteers. Now, thanks to the generosity of Linford and Becky Gehman, we will be able to purchase their former residence (next to Green Valley House) to use for similar housing.
That frees up Green Valley House to become a guest facility! It will be a blessing to have a new corner of the Highland world to expand into, and we are especially delighted that this new facility is an ideal size for mid-sized groups. Small extended families, Sunday School classes, and church leadership retreats will now have access to a space that is the right size for them: 6 bedrooms (including 2 on the ground floor), 2 kitchens, 3.5 bathrooms, and several roomy gathering areas.
Though we plan on limited use of Green Valley House this summer, we need to rework the driveway before it is fully open for guests. The new entrance will be located opposite Upper Highland Drive, where visibility is significantly better, and the new driveway will be parallel to Rt 259 to give safe access to both the former Gehman residence and Green Valley House.
