Camper families who had made payments for 2020 summer camps should complete the form below so we know what you would like to do with that payment now that camp is cancelled.
Thank you again for being so understanding about our decision to cancel summer camps this year. We have felt your support even as we all grieve the necessity of this cancellation. And we’re excited that many of you have already expressed interest in family outings at Highland this summer!
We know that a major question on many of your minds following the cancellation announcement is related to the payments you have already made toward your child’s camp experience. COVID-19 has had a significant financial impact on some families, and on Highland Retreat as an organization as well. This is a truly unprecedented situation, and calls for some new options and flexibility as we seek to keep Highland Retreat financially healthy while also treating all camper families fairly. Therefore, we are offering each family these options:
- We can transfer your existing payment to a family outing or 2021 Summer Camp session of your choice. It would give us joy and purpose to serve your family this summer or to know that your camper will be joining us again in 2021, and you are welcome to use your previous payment to make that happen! Choosing to transfer your payment essentially helps us cover existing costs related to 2020 Summer Camps, such as the 800+ staff hours we have put in since last fall to hire summer staff, plan and promote summer programs, and process registrations.
- We would deeply appreciate your choice to turn your existing payment into a tax-deductible donation, if you are able to do so. This would freely allow Highland to cover all existing costs related to 2020 Summer Camps AND give us the financial leeway to prepare for next summer. Highland’s ministry depends on donor support, now more than ever.
- Upon request, we will offer refunds of payments in excess of the required deposits. Though the $100 or $60 deposit required to finalize registration is generally not refundable, we recognize that some families have already paid for their child’s camp experience in full. If you have paid more than the minimum deposit, you may request a refund of the additional portion, after choosing to donate or transfer the deposit amount.
- As it becomes possible, we will also offer refunds of deposit payments to families who are experiencing economic hardship. We don’t want to the be the cause of financial distress for anyone, so in an effort to extend the limits of what we can refund, we are in the process of contacting scholarship donors to seek permission to use their gifts to provide deposit refunds for families in need, beginning with those who had already applied for a camp scholarship.
Please take some time to consider which of these options will work for your family, then complete the form below. The completed form will go straight to our office staff so we can take action according to your request.
If you or someone you know would like to make a separate donation to support the ministry of Highland Retreat, you are always welcome to do so. Click for more information or to make an online donation.
Make sure to click the button at the end of the form to submit your request.
