A huge THANK YOU to all who participated in, volunteered for, and contributed to the 2016 Highland auction! It was great to see so many friends of Highland in attendance. There were over 100 registered bidders and we served brunch to over 160 people.
The auction was enlivened by the sale of some items that brought with them their unique stories. One such item was the antique wood box that earned applause when the bidding topped out at $525. It was originally donated for use in Red Oak Lodge, but had lost its purpose when an outdoor wood box was made to replace it. Then there were the two fifth grade campers who bid together on a rain forest book with stunning photos. They won the bid, and have plans to share the book between them. Another camper won a bid on an intricate folding knife, handmade by Darrell Weaver. That knife is sure to be treasured for years to come!
By the end of the day, a total of just under $20,000 was grossed. This includes the $4766 raised for camp scholarships, both from brunch donations and from the 16 people who raised their hands at the opportunity to cover a full or half scholarship. We are grateful for each one of the generous donors and bidders who made this year’s auction a success!
